A Critical Evaluation of Tutorials

In this presentation I evaluate the role and nature of tutorials specifically in the MA Interdisciplinary Arts Practices (Social Sculpture) and more generally in the subject area of art.

By bringing together observations and experiences from myself and others, literature research and insights arising from conversations with colleagues, I look at strategies for conducting a good tutorial, potential challenges and the role of questions. The presentation concludes with feedback I received from students and colleagues so far and a plan for future actions.

I am a recent graduate of this course and since a couple of weeks a member of the teaching team, giving tutorials myself.
