This is an intensive introduction to supporting student learning in online environments, and you will be supported through scheduled activities by selected key readings, specially developed course resources, skilled online tutors and guest experts.

Welcome to the Teaching Online Open Course 2016
We're delighted to have you join us in this year's cohort for #tooc16. Past participants of this course have had a variety of different experiences: some are early career lecturers or teaching assistants; some are experienced lecturers seeking new practices for engaging students; some are somewhere in-between!
You will meet and work with people from different fields and career stages. To get the best out of this course, you are encouraged to discuss, exchange ideas and collaborate with colleagues on your cohort. Every community that has developed in each running of this course has contributed new ideas for practice and we are sure that this year will be no different!

Hi there and welcome, from Marion, Mark and Simon, the course tutors. We're delighted you can join us for Teaching Online, an introduction to the skills of online teaching.You are probably one or more of: a new university lecturer; part-time lecturer or a sessional teacher; graduate teaching assistant; someone who supports learners in departments such as the library or computer services; an experienced 'offline' lecturer who wants to brush up on online skills.
You're going to meet some interesting people during this course. Get involved and make the most of the opportunities such a community of practitioners provides. And have fun! In the meantime, take a look about.
